The Story
The Seiko Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver's GMT HBC001 reinterprets the legendary 1968 Diver with a mechanical GMT complication—a first for the Heritage Diver line. The 42mm stainless steel case measures 13.3mm thick with a 48.6mm lug-to-lug span and features the 4 o'clock screw-down crown placement inherited from the 1968 original. Mirror-finished case sides contrast with brushed surfaces, and a unidirectional rotating bezel with a deep green ceramic insert matches the sunray green dial. Applied LumiBrite-filled indices, faceted hands, and a red-tipped lollipop seconds hand combine with a gold-toned GMT hand for at-a-glance dual time-zone reading. Powered by Seiko's in-house Caliber 6R54 automatic GMT movement with manual winding, 24 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour, and approximately 72 hours of power reserve. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and water resistance is rated to 300 meters. The stainless steel bracelet features the new six-step micro-adjust clasp first introduced on the Marinemaster, allowing approximately 15mm of incremental adjustment for comfort across changing wrist conditions.
